Hi everyone,
I’m 26F and want to get back in to reading. When I was finishing high school, I was put off from reading with all the over analysing, essays and reading books that I didn’t necessarily enjoy.
Since then, I have not gone to university and feel as thought I am losing a lot of my vocabulary. However, I will also be starting to learn Spanish soon, and have obtained some textbooks and beginner stories to read.
I am after some recommendations or classics that can help expand my vocabulary, and I like to be very open minded. Here are some topics I enjoy:
- true crime
- feminism and other activist movements
- world wars
- history
- geography
I generally lead towards non-fiction, however open to fiction stories based on real world events. So far from reading other subs, I am looking at getting some books by bell hooks and Erik Larson.
Thank you so much for your help! 🙂

If you enjoy non fiction but also, want the ease of reading with story telling and history, I’d suggest “Sapiens” by Yuval Noah Harari. Also, Robin Sharma has many philosophical books but he puts into story.
