I got Lonesome Dove because I’ve seen it recommended so much on all the book subs, but I don’t know much about it other than it’s a western. It’s been so long since I’ve seen The Princess Bride that I’ve forgotten most of it, but I do know it’s a funny/happy story. So from what I know about Lonesome Dove, I’m thinking maybe I should read that first and follow it with a happier story?

I’d go unknown and then known, so I agree with your impression.
You’re going to read both books anyway and then more books after that, so stakes are pretty low.
The princess bride is exactly like the movie. Go with something new to you first.
Princes Bride movie, classic, is much better than the book. I usually like to read book first then movie, but in this case seeing movie was better to help visualize story.
Princess bride book isn’t that great. Odd case of the movie being much better.
Lonesome Dove is LONG, and it’s got some slower parts but it’s an amazing book definitely top 5 novels I’ve read
