I haven't read a book about love in ages. This is not a genre I gravitate towards. That said I'm also not opposed to it, and love stories inside my favourite books usually enhanced them.

Anyway, I'm looking for something relatively smart (but more "snappy" than highbrow). Something that is easy to read but has some depth to it. With a good dash of drama to make things interesting but I'm definitely not looking for something depressing. I'm looking for relatable. Preferably something 10-15 years younger version of myself could relate to.

I guess I'm kinda tired of the ambivalence and that modern flavour of calculated and/or disposable relationships. I want to read a good story where two people fall in love, and that's a Focal point of said "good story".

Bonus points for 90s sensibilities, oneiric tone, small scope (as in few characters and locations) and a bit more… "universally relatable" characters (the book can be recent but I'd rather it was mostly about the good ol' "human condition" and not tiktok-COVID-tech-apocalypse-brainrot. Also, I have nothing against the inclusion of sex in the story (I guess most of the more "conventional love stories" should include that aspect) but I'm definitely not looking for smut. Thanks in advance for recommendations.
