I am overcome with baby fever and would love to escape a little bit into a book! I would love a slice-of-life fiction/lit-fic book where it is from the perspective of a mother/maternal figure. I would especially be interested if it looked at the tougher realities of things like marriage strain, personal issues, maybe fertility struggles to ground me a bit 🙂 It could also just be a novel with a different plot focus and the main character happens to be a maternal figure.

Nothing too scary or dark, please! (“We need to talk about Kevin,” I’m looking at you). Thank you all in advance for your suggestions!

Look How Happy I’m Making You by Polly Rosenwaike – loosely connected stories on the realities of motherhood. I don’t think it was too dark, but it definitely focused on realism.
