I’ve dabbled in Stephen king but have yet to dive head first. I’ve mostly read Mr Mercedes series and some other random stand alones. I went into the green mile completely blind, having never seen the movie either. This book had me on the verge of tears from the very beginning. And now towards the end, more than a few have fallen. The contents is dark but written in such a beautiful way…. I just don’t even have words for how it makes me feel. This book is awful, and so beautiful. Ughhhhh.

Oh my goodness. When I finished the book I sobbed for a few hours. One of my favorite king books for sure.
I’ve read this book several times but not for many years. My memory of it is that I start crying a few pages in and pretty much don’t stop until the end. It’s such a phenomenally emotive book. King at his best
Oh, damn! I just downloaded it from the library. Now I’m afraid to read it
Goodreads probably has archived discussions about it but it’s an older title so the comments may be from long ago
Finished my first read through this time last year. Really only had two books make me emotional. The green mile and the outsiders
Yeah, I don’t think people realize what a beautiful, heartfelt writer SK is aside from the gore he’s known for in his books.
It’s been a long time, but I remember crying so hard I could barely see the last chapter to read it.
Yeah. When I was reading the last few chapters I warned my wife that I was going to be crying for a little while. That is a wonderful wonderful book.
It’s wonderful. And the movie is better.
