I had a pretty gnarly accident a year ago and have found that really heavy or violent stuff gives me nightmares (like Shadow and Bone, which I was reading pre accident and now can’t finish).
I am about to finish Lockwood and Co, which has been just the right amount of scary. I sadly did not enjoy the author’s other series.
In the past I’ve really enjoyed The Wheel of Time, A Court of Thorns and Roses, Lioness Quartet, the first few books in the Ender saga, and older Clive Cussler books.
I did not enjoy A Song of Fire and Ice (aka Game of Thrones), Harry Potter, Bartimaeus, and anything by Brandon Sanderson or R. R. Salvatore (I mostly don’t like their writing style).
It can also be not adventure. I like older Mary Higgins Clark, older James Patterson, and most of the books I had to read for class (except *The Awakening* and *Their Eyes Were Watching God*). Oh and then Mhairi McFarlane and Marian Keyes, but I do not like Sophia Kinsella.
I just need something to dive into when I’m feeling restless.
Thank you!

Pretty much anything by PG Wodehouse would be a good read for you.
Diana Wynne Jones
The Gentleman by Forrest Leo is like PG Wodehouse meets Terry Pratchett
Jasper Fforde
Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann is an atypical murder mystery – the murder of a shepherd investigated by the flock of sheep
I’m definitely erring on the lighter side rather than relying on faulty memory.
Try {{The Cowboy and The Cossack}} by Clair Huffaker.
Also you could try the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden starting with {{The Bear and the Nightingale}} for an epic historical fantasy that is not nearly as dark as Shadow and Bone.
