Suggest me a book that a 10-year old boy might be interested in. His reading level is closer to grade 1 but he enjoys having books read to him. He loves funny things – Robert Munsch, Amelia Bedelia, etc. Open to ideas for storybooks or shorter chapter books.

Mrs Piggle Wiggle, maybe?
Magic Tree House was the big one when I was a kid
For him to read, or for you to read to him?
Dog man! My son has loved them from age 6 and he’s 9 now and still loves them
How about Judy Blume’s Fudge Books?
Or Captain Underpants by Dave Pilky?
Both were huge hits when I babysat a eight year old boy who had some developmental delays but loved being read to—as long as the book was funny.
Roald Dahl, the guy was an arse but apparently his books hold up. Start with revolting rhymes.
I also caution against trying chapter books too early when kids are struggling with literacy: just because it’s normal for their age doesn’t mean they should be pushed into it yet. Trying to force chapter books on them too early can turn reading into a hard slog instead of being enjoyable.
Encyclopedia Brown books maybe? I’m not exactly sure if it would be the correct reading level or not since it’s been a while. I know they’re younger elementary school but not sure what reading level. There’s a lot of them.
It’s about a 10 year old boy that runs his own detective agency. He solves mysteries around town. Short chapter books. I liked them a lot.
The Dogman books are what I used to get my 2nd grader interested in reading.
Magic School Bus maybe? Or My Weird School
Roald Dahl – the Twits, the witches, the bfg, Matilda, George’s marvellous medicine
