I’m looking for a gothic horror… preferably not modern, with a slow burn romance or, better, a romantic subplot, strong botanical fantasy elements, and some investigative work.
I bought “Don’t Let the Forest In” by CG Drew’s and “The Specimen” by Jaima Fixsen, very excited for those, but I want more similar works.
Botanical Horror is truly my favorite niche.

Have you read Mexican Gothic?!
Green Mansions by [W. H. Hudson](https://www.librarything.com/author/hudsonwh) — not super horrory but definitely older fantasy/ romance with with a jungle/forest focus
More modern but Brazzaville Beach by William Boyd — botanical, biological, some horror -minor romance elements
You might take a loo at Ill-Met by Moonlight by Sarah Hoyt about a Fae war in Shakespeare’s time.
