i typically read lit fic and contemporary fic but am also partial to mystery thrillers and horror. i do NOT like romance/romantasy but am okay if there is a romance subplot that is not substantial, although i would prefer no romance at all. i place a big emphasis on prose and content when i read, plot can kind of fall to the wayside but good writing is really important to me. examples of things i’ve liked before, this past winter i read bone white by ronald malfi (liked the writing and the setting and characters but the ending fell flat, however i was comparing it to come with me which is insanely good), eileen by otessa moshfegh (loved the writing style and the winter setting but hated the plot and characters and basically everything else lol), and the secret history (definitely one of my favorite books of all time). i tried to read krampus before too but the writing was so cringe and gross to me that i didn’t get past the first few chapters. thank you in advance!!
