Hi everyone! I want to get into the habit of reading/listening to a book before bed to reduce my screen time.
I usually read thrillers because I love a book that keeps me guessing and turning the page (Freida McFadden, Karin Slaughter) but I don’t want to read something tense before bed or to relax.
I love historical fiction like the Bridgerton books.
I liked the Colleen Hoover books, but that was 3 years ago so maybe my taste has changed (I am a 26F)
I have tried Fourth Wing, ACOTAR, and GoT books but I find them tough to read with the world building. But I love fantasy shows!! I just need a good suggestion on a fun, exciting, page turning fantasy OR any other recs based on my reading past above. Thanks!!

If you want fantasy + historical fiction, then check out Guy Gavriel Kay.
Read *The Hobbit*. If you don’t like that, fantasy might just not be your genre.
The Traveler’s Gate Trilogy by Will Wight. Fun fastest with a lot of action. Magic is used by calling energy and creatures from other worlds called territories. People who can draw from their territories are called travelers. The first book in the series is House of Blades.
A Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett is a murder mystery fantasy book. First in a series, so if you enjoy it you’ll have more to read but right now there’s only two books out. Second one is A Drop of Corruption.
I’m not into fantasy either but read these based on a friends recommendation and I’ve enjoyed them as much as I can a fantasy. I struggle with the world building stuff as well, I never know wtf is going on so I’ve never actually finished a fantasy book until these books. The murder mystery aspect helps I feel like.
I would check out the broken Earth series. The series won like every nebula prize in a row when they were coming out.
