I have this mental tug of war between books that directly address depression and books that are more uplifting in their theme. On one hand, the former should be able to make me feel less alone — and on the other, a more cheerful book may have compounding effects on my mood.

I had only recently heard of *I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki* after it was on the news internationally, that the author Baek Se-Hee, age 35, passed away. I read its Wikipedia page and thought "Wow, this is my go-to book."

At the same time, I do not want to keep engaging in self-analysis.

I realize that it differs with each individual, but in your experience what worked better? Thanks either way for reading 🙂
