The President’s Hat by Antoine Laurain or All Systems Red (first Murderbot Diaries book) by Martha Wells

    2. I just finished *Convenience Store Woman* and it was both compelling and well-written. Some phrasing and transitions were odd to me, but the book was translated from Japanese, and I’m coming at it from a very non-Japanese perspective. Just something to maybe be aware of if you’re judging the quality of the writing.

Anyway, I think there is a *lot* to discuss there, it would be a good book club book.

I really like Buddha in the attic by Julie Otsuka, it’s about the experiences of Japanese immigrant women to America, before, during, and after wwii.

    4. Train Dreams is a great novella. Film coming soon on Netflix, if that’s a selling point.

    5. Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Nobody writes novellas like Tchaikovsky, you’ll come away thinking it must have been a full novel. I don’t do unrelated novellas, unless they are by him. 202 pages.
