I've just read it, and it's one of my favorite books now. I hate reading books normally. Do you know similar books?
What I've enjoyed the most is :
1) A 'lot' of action-packed, detailed war (gory) deaths
2) Tragic story
3) Epic war with indecisive battles
4) Emotional moments
I'm afraid I won't find any other book like this ever again… But maybe you've come across some ?
The Greek mythology/cultural aspect was an added bonus, but it doesn't matter to me. It could've been sci-fi or fantasy or another culture, it would still be enjoyable if it had the four points mentioned above.
Do you have suggestions?

Pat Barker’s *The Silence of the Girls* tells the story of the Iliad from the perspective of Briseis – the sex slave that Achilles went into a snit over
that sounds like seamus heaney translation of beowulf
