I would love to gift my boyfriend a book that sucks him in! He enjoys thought provoking fiction when he was briefly reading. He’s read all Tom Robbin’s books, and also read a few Robert Greene books but found them so dense he had a hard time enjoying them. I keep trying to convince him to read Riley sagar as an easy thriller but it hadn’t worked. I’d appreciate some recommendations as I’m a massive book worm and would love to share some quiet book time on the couch with my love.

I’ve gifted Dark Matter by Blake Crouch to a few people who wanted to get back into reading since it has a pretty steady pace and keeps people hooked. Riley Sager for me is super hit or miss so I get his side on that one.

      Maybe short story collections?

Stephen King has several short story collections that are fantastic.

I like Jesus’ Son by Denis Johnson but it’s out there.

Classic short story collections include John Cheever and Ernst Hemingway

Connie Willis has solid SciFi short stories

Fantasy, try Ursula K Le Guin

    3. Maybe Kurt Vonnegut’s Hocus Pocus.

It’s written in an interesting way; story goes that Kurt gave his editor a mess of post-its, food wrappers, napkins, etc with the book’s contents and demanded it be separated in the same state within the book. So the whole book is told in a series of split up points and mentions and facts and moments and remembrances. It’s uniform chaos is suprisingly easily to absorb. Its like a ‘just one more’ kind of hook where you realize you’ve read 30 pages and forgot you were steeping tea. Plus the story is interesting and humorous.
