LGBT book that isn’t about pretty twink boys (since that’s all I seem to find)

Obviously man on man action, I’m not looking for a love story involving women. I’d also prefer books that aren’t written by straight women because I feel like they heavily misrepresent the gay community and their novels basically turn into some fantasy porn for other straight women. I am a gay man and I’d like a book written by a man, preferably gay but honestly just a man will do.

I’m not too fussed about what age the characters are, I sort of want them to be adults but I really couldn’t care less if they’re teens or something as long as the writing is believable and they aren’t typical skinty queens who have no interesting qualities and just love each other because they’re both gay and available. (None of that “he had the most amazing brown hair in the same style all the men wear these days, with basic ass jeans and a plain white t-shirt that was produced specifically to fit his default thin body, he wore carhartt and he was beautiful” bs, substance please. Obviously no hate to thin people but when all the gay representation you see is white twink you sort of get bored)

It doesn’t have to be realistic, I like a bit of fantasy or some sci-fi, as long as the relationship is believable. Slow burns are amazing because the tension is really satisfying but I don’t even know if I have to specify that, I think all books are slow burn by default.

I do NOT want a story about a teenager and an older man, so no recommending call me by your name or anything. Not into relationships where someone is being abused and manipulated, I just want something normal and healthy with maybe a bit of “but this is forbidden” thrown in too for the suspense (I’m watching Young Royals rn and the prince being a closet gay because duh he’s the prince is fun and exciting, something like that is fine but I’m also good with open gayness).
