I just have NOT been able to read lately. It feels like the reading space for me has been a little dry, so can you guys give me some series you liked. I enjoyed reading the Rot & Ruin series and Percy Jackson series a lot for example. I wanna cry, but I’d prefer nothing with sex crime or violence like that in anyway.
While it doesn’t have to be in a series, I would like it to be, but if you have any interesting one-offs, I’m completely okay with that too.
I like:
- zombies, but aren’t the usual text book slow walker that have actual deep lore to how they work. Rot & Ruin did a great job with this imo
 - myths or concepts reimagined
 - a rich story and world lore
 - interesting world building, typically with few info dumps. I like it when an author lets you learn about the world as the story progresses
 - and I like comedy bits as well
 - not an end all be all, but if a character I like could die and make me cry, I would like that

Check out shard of the Cretaceous and shard of the Cretaceous 2: universal invasion by William Foreman
You might enjoy Red Rising by Pierce Brown. A fast-paced, epic, dystopian sci-fi/fantasy revenge story, with great world building and interesting characters. The story and setting are rich and complex but it doesn’t generally get bogged down with slow writing or info dumps. There are 6 books out so far, and the final book is coming out soon.
You might also like The Devils by Joe Abercrombie. In an alternate world fantasy Europe, the child Pope assembles a team of supernatural ‘villains’ for a top secret mission to the legendary city of Troy. Lots of humour and interesting characters. It’s a standalone, but if you enjoy his writing style I’d highly recommend checking out his other main dark fantasy series, The First Law, starting with The Blade Itself, and the 10 books after that. Tons of complex, flawed, characters you’ll come to love despite (or even because of) their cynicism.
The Evermen Saga by James Maxwell is a great, fast-paced fantasy series.
