No Hitchens, Dawkins, or anything like that.
I want books that seriously and honestly challenge or criticize Christianity.
On The Genealogy of Morality by Nietzsche is a good example, though the suggestions don't need to be philosophy.

Cosmos by Carl Sagan is about the universe. But it takes aim at religion as well. Many people find the great mystery of space and beyond reason enough to move beyond a much older, smaller worldview like Christianity which supposes Earth and human life are paramount.
It’s also a great book and should engage anyone’s sense of wonder. Sagan also writes well about history which is a main focus of the book too.
Again it’s not a book out to “own religion” but his views on the vastness of time and space serve really well to make you ask “are a few books from 2000 years ago all focused in a desert really all that there is?”
