I just finished this hugely entertaining novel by Jordan Harper, and it really satisfied my particular fixation on books set in L.A., and that deal with the dark underbelly of Hollywood. He's written a few other novels, but they don't appear to be quite the same flavor of "Everybody Knows." Any recs for contemporary thrillers that are steeped in the "dark side" of the city?

    1. Walter Mosely: Easy Rollins series begins with Devil in a Blue Dress. Might be set too long ago.

      James Ellroy: The Black Dahlia
      Not contemporary but great.

Morgan Richter: The Divide; set in the low level PR world. Really good and very contemporary
