I wanted to make my friend a sort of book 'advent calender' – perhaps of around 12 books – and was looking for some recommendations.
Her current favourites are books like those by Richard Osman (Thursday Murder Club), Anthony Horowitz as well as The Silent Patient. I wanted to get her books in a similar genre, and she likes mystery/crime books in particular.
Are there any other similar books that you would recommend? She would prefer shorter books that are easier to read, as she is quite a busy person!

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers has some similarities to Thursday Murder Club.
