I'm kind of burnt out on books that just focus on the graphic details. I'm looking for something that really gets inside the head of the killer, the investigator, or even the survivors. Something that messes with your mind more than it turns your stomach.
Any recommendations for a thriller that's smart and chilling without being overly violent for the sake of it? I've already read The Silence of the Lambs.
