Hi all! I am looking for a book preferably of the genres listed above that is quite dense and difficult to read. I want to train myself to become a stronger reader for the LSAT's reading comprehension. I have been struggling with it and many people have told me to find an interesting book that requires close attention to detail, understanding multiple complex viewpoints/arguments, and to really analyze the author's message in depth. it doesn't have to be written during the periods above but i would prefer that because I know I need to strengthen my understanding of older works/eras. my favorite childhood books were harry potter and my newest favorite book is Then She was Gone. it wasn't a difficult read for me but I loved the mystery and emotion behind the story. this may sound odd, but i want to be confused and have to work hard to understand/grasp what i'm reading. please leave any suggestions you may have. thank you in advance!

Anna Karenina is a nice dense classic but I have to confess it is still reasonably readable! Still, a step up in difficulty from the books you listed.
Count of Monte Cristo (unabridged) is a bit more dry and difficult that you have to pay attention to. This is due to a 100-page ish rant in the middle about the church politics of the day. This is also why I usually recommend the abridged version to read but since you specified a challenge…lol
Ulysses by James Joyce is widely considered the hardest most complicated read and certainly the worst I ever attempted.
The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins
Bleak House by Charles Dickens
Middlemarch by George Eliot
