Good afternoon! I am a therapist in a detox center and people keep asking me for books. Often, the people I work with suffer from homelessness, hard drug addiction, and trauma. Does anyone have ideas for good books for me to suggest to the clients? Right now all I have is This Naked Mind.
Thank you all so much, I plan on reading (audio reading?) the books too before I recommend them to anyone!

The Four Agreements
She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb
A Psalm for the Wild-Built and A Prayer for the Crown-Shy, both by Becky Chambers. The dedication in the first one is “for anyone who needs a break.”
The big book
I know its saccharin sweet and a bit low brow for the internet, but The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. It has great themes for your group
What are they looking for? For example, do they want escapism / something to occupy their mind? Maybe to learn about why they do what they do? Or to hear similar experiences?
The Hobbit
Emotional Agility – Susan David
Help Thanks Wow – Anne Lamott
We All Want Impossible Things – Catherine Newman
House on Mango Street – Sandra Cisneros
Tao of Pooh – Benjamin Hoff
A Million Little Pieces by James Frey
The glass castle by Jeanette Walls and/or To Hell if we don’t change our ways by Brittany Means
All Creatures Great and Small by James Heriot for something quiet and escapist.
