    Hi all!

I was two when 9/11 happened and having grown up in the Bush years, I’m sure a lot of what I know about the history of US involvement in the Middle East is likely closer to the propagandized and manipulated information meant to foster support for the War on Terror rather than the actual truth. I’ve spent years researching and clarifying specific events (the 1953 CIA backed coup in Iran, the overthrowing of Saddam and Gaddafi, etc.) and the overall truth of the War on Terror being baseless, but I really want to put together a reading list that will help me understand the events leading up to and the events following 9/11, as well as the impact on those the US left in their wake as they destabilized a region and propagated a forever war.

What I have so far is:

All the Shah’s Men by Kinzer

    Ghost Wars by Coll

    The Looming Tower by Wright

    Directorate S by Coll

    The Achilles Trap by Coll

No Good Men Among the Living by Gopal

This is just a rough list in about the order I’m thinking of reading them and I’m hoping to get some recommendations about what to read when, what’s worth a read, and what I may be missing.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    1. Vice had a great little documentary on this.
Ali Soufan (who I went to school with) has a few books too.
      Really stand up guy.
