Hello. I want to read fiction that explores alcoholism and/or dealing with alcoholics. It’s my dad’s 11th sobriety anniversary, and I’ve realized every subsequent 6th November gets worse and worse. Feels like I can never recover from the things that have happened. If you all have any recommendations, especially if they’re vulnerably violent in their explorations, I’d love to know!
Thank you.

Check out the Liars’ club by M Karr perhaps. The author had childhood with an alcoholic mother
The Shining
I really liked At the Table
I’m sorry for the negative experiences you’ve had to endure due to another person’s inability to exhibit self control around alcohol. I don’t have a recommendation for you, just a friendly message that I hope you have the opportunity to seek professional help about this in some manner in addition to any reading.
If he has been sober for 11 years now and your ability to recover has only gotten worse as those years have passed, I really hope talking to a professional is on your radar. Even if you’ve done it before in the past, if it’s getting worse, I hope you’d consider it again if you’re able.
Positive vibes, hope you get what you’re looking for here as well.
