Please suggest me an interesting book that will help me get back to reading. I haven't read a single book in years, and the last I read(halfway through, though) from years ago was probably "Killing Commendatore" by Haruki Murakami.
Somehow, I no longer enjoy reading anymore but I would like to get back into the world of literature. I would prefer it if the book is not much longer than 400 pages.
However, so long as the book is gripping and filled with enough twists to keep me at the edge of my seat, the length is not much of a farce to me. Genres that I most enjoy would be fantasy(a sprinkle of horror is okay with me), romance(a mature romance story with compelling, morally ambiguous leads is my bread and butter), mystery(yum; especially the ones that leave my jaw slack with astonishment at the last page!), sci-fi(I'm not too heavy on this, to be sincere, but I've always wanted to gradually venture into science fiction) and historical ones(especially the ones set in the Victorian period or in the English Georgian society at the turn of the 19th century!).
Lastly, I'm very interested in books that were written in the early to late 1900s. Thank you.

Dungeon Crawler Carl. I know it sounds crazy…but you won’t regret it
Maybe a short story? Diamond Dogs by Alastair Reynolds was really good, sci-fi horror.
I also loved Michael Crichton’s novel Sphere, also sci-fi horror, but underwater, the characters were very easy to imagine, genuinely funny at times, clever, feels like a movie in your brain, I devoured it in like 2 days (as a person who struggles to read 5 books per year, this was huge.) Even considering rereading it.
Any book by Patricia McKillip. Fantasy that is just beautiful.
Gideon the Ninth. Lesbian necromancers in space. It’s Sci-fi and fantasy, Romance but not focused on sex, murder mystery, has some horror elements. It’s definitely a fun read with a great PoV MC. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re an anime or video game fan you may especially enjoy it. It’s a mix of everything above with sword duels thrown in. It’s an absolute mix of comedy and dark morally ambiguous characters.
