Hi all,
I’m looking for a fictional book with a woman as the protagonist — preferably BIPOC — where the story isn’t centered around romance. I’d love something where she’s independent, has left a relationship, or is simply thriving on her own.
I’m open to adventurous, dramatic, or historical stories — anything with a meaningful message about self-worth, inner strength, and loving oneself.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

If mystery is okay, the Blanche White books by Barbara Neely are wonderful, with a strong, dynamic Black woman as the lead. Biting, funny, and thoughtful. Blanche on the Lam is the first one.
