Question about Raymond Carver. Which version of “What we talk about when we talk about love” to read first? I have both versions.

I’m having decision paralysis.
I hear the edited (Lish’s) version has a cleaner aesthetic while the original (Beginners) is messier. Though because it’s messier, some say it’s crueller and more raw. I’m stuck, I can’t pick. I do not go to school, so I cannot ask any teachers or classmates. What do people think about this, generally?
