I'm currently very lost when it comes to books and authors. I used to read quite a lot during my teenage years, mostly young adult books with fantasy themes (the throne of glass series by Sarah J Maas was my favorite).
I finally have more time to relax and I'd like to pick up reading again, only I have no idea what to look for. As much as I loved the young adult books back then, I feel like I've outgrown that but it also means I have no idea what to look for.
I'm open to all recommendations as I feel like I have to redevelop my taste.
I don't have anything to compare to but maybe I can share what genres generally appeal to me (tv-shows, movies, documentaries)
– crime (especially british crime series)
– sci-fi (post-apocalyptic, dystopian)
– fantasy
– mystery
What I really don't like
– heavy focus on (cheesy) romance
– too many steamy passages unless critical to storytelling
I'm looking for something that's interesting and engaging without being too philosophical or thought-intensive so it's perfect to sit down and relax at the end of the day.
