Hi there,
I’m currently searching for books that cover the above topics. I am keen on reading sociological and criminological books, including fiction and non-fiction.
I’ve already read Gang Leader for a Day by Sudhir Venkatesh, which was very interesting.
I would appreciate any suggestions. 🙂

Ghettoside: A True Story of Murder in America, by Jill Leovy
*The Corner* by David Simon goes deep on Baltimore drug economy… ethnography that reads like narrative. *Random Family* by LeBlanc tracks lives across decades, systemic poverty from ground level. *There Are No Children Here* by Kotlowitz for housing project perspective
Maybe Behave by Robert Sapolsky? It’s not specific to “urban” crime, but it is a comprehensive look, through the lens of a variety of fields, at some of the underlying factors that tend to be connected to bad behavior, and it’s one of my absolute favorite books on what makes us tick.
