I haven't clicked with books that use a lot of sci-fi/fantasy words. After seeing the first movie and Alt Shift X's amazing video essay on the 1st half of book 1, I really want to read this book lol. I'm struggling with the reading difficulty though, would appreciate if you have tips

For example in chapter 1- during the human testing, the detail about the bene gesserit seeing people with a lack of self control are non-human. If I had not watched that video essay, I would've been confused on human testing and interpreted it differently, even though there is a line implying lack of self control is connected to being an animal.

Then they keep saying "Dune – desert planet". If I didn't have prior knowledge, I would assume he's thinking about this place a lot. It took a few times for me to be like "oh yeah because he's having visions that Dune is important intruding in his head"

It feels weird to read with the flow- like the way I think about the details. I don't normally read books with this type of writing style. I think the books I usually read have more linear flows with the reading feel- for reference the harder authors I've read are Bret Easton Ellis' and George RR Martin.
