My favorite author of all time is Soseki Natsume, but I'm wanting to check out some books from my local library and unfortunately they don't have any works by him. I've read Stoner, and plenty of other slice of life translated Japanese works. I love slice of life fiction about the mundane.

Does it have to be Japanese authors? If not, David Lodge “The Picturegoers” and “The British Museum is falling down” fit into this description!
