Pretty much just the title. I’m not looking for a book full of recipes (Though if what I’m looking for has some in it I won’t complain), I’m looking for something more educational.
I want a book that’ll teach me good ingredient pairings, what not to put together, how to safely prepare certain foods, and just general knowledge that’ll make me a more prepared adult.

The Food Lab by Kenji Lopez-Alt
I love both Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat by Samin Nosrat and The Food Lab by Kenji J Lopez-Alt for this exact reason. Both go so in depth on different techniques, flavor profiles, pairings etc. I became a significantly better home cook because of these two books. I also recommend Samin’s 4-episode special on Netflix under the same name.
