What I mean by "actual character" is that it speaks to the other characters, has its own thoughts, etc. Stuff like that. I'm most interested in genres that are horror or satire related (bonus if it's both) but I'm open to suggestions outside of that.

Kim Harrison’s Hollow series has a demon as a main character. Urban fantasy though not horror.
