hi guys, so i have recently gotten into reading relatively late in my life i’d say. i’m 23 and the first proper book i read was when i was 19 due to years of not being properly diagnosed with severe dyslexia.
my reading level isn’t like, super high or anything. so please take that in mind when suggesting books. i don’t mind length, but sometimes i start reading a novel and it feels like all the big words have no meaning and it just doesn’t make sense to me.
some books i’ve loved to read are the following
little women
the wedding people
the perks of being a wallflower
it ends with us
a boy’s life
girl interrupted
i’m open to any genre but i am keen to romance, feel good books, or things that generally give you strong feelings. thanks so much in advance! <3

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery
Of Mice and Men. Short and easy to read, and genuinely moving.
Psalm for the Wild Built! Short and feel good while not only being fluff. It has heart and something to say while not being preachy.
I’m so excited you’re getting in to reading it really is such a fun hobby! Take this new time to just figure out what you like, after each book ask yourself what you liked about it and try not to feel bad if you don’t like the same thing everyone else seems to love!
Reading is super personal and once you figure out your style and what you like it’ll open a door to thousands of books in that niche!
based on The Perks of Being a Wallflower:
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Imaginary Friend by Stephen Chbosky
The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
based on Little Women:
Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
Emma, pride and prejudice
omg little women is my fav too! if you liked perks of being a wallflower you might wanna try “looking for alaska” by john green, it has that same emotional friend group vibe but the writing is super accessible.
Margo’s Got Money Troubles
I think you may like the authors Taylor Jenkins Reid, Ashley Posten, and Emily Henry. Lyla Sage novels are fun, breezy romances.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by
Shelby Van Pelt was very sweet.
+1 on Looking for Alaska
Adding Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night
(Maybe try a Carl Hiaasen book and see if the make you smile? The single word titles like Hoot or Flush are a bit YA, the two word titles like Tourist Season or Skin Tight are more rated R)
Also, if the dyslexia makes audiobooks a good idea, there’s nothing wrong with that
Ordinary People
Rule of the Bone
Stoner
These are all good for the feels.
Ordinary People – Judith Guest
The Bell Jar – Sylvia Plath
