I realized my attention span is trash and I really want to start educating myself more, but I have no idea where to begin. I love psychology and stoicism, but reading those books feels hard to fully get through. I also want something fun to read for leisure, but I don’t even know what genres I’d enjoy. I like mystery shows, action/adventure and some romance, but that’s pretty much it. Any recommendations for building my reading habit or figuring out what books I might like?

if you like mystery television shows, I’d start in the mystery/thriller genre.
I bet at least one of your favorite mystery shows is based on a book. Might be a good place to start. If you’re turned off by the mystery being spoiled, read a different book by the author that wrote the book a show you love is based on.
Another great place to start is with the “Staff Recommends” section of your local bookstore or library. Mystery and Romance are VERY popular genres, so you’ll always have a lot of recommendations in those genres.
Definitely start with genres that mirror the movies and shows you enjoy. What are some mystery shows you enjoy?
Agatha Christie can be a pretty accessible place to start when it comes reading mysteries. I’d suggest starting with books like **And Then There Were None** or earlier Poirot books like **Murder of Roger Ackroyd**, **Peril At End House**, **Mysterious Affair At Styles**, **Murder on the Orient Express**, **Mystery of the Blue Train**, **A.B C. Murders**.
**Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman** is also a really fun mystery series (currently 5 books).
I also always recommend Shari Lapena’s mystery books as I think she’s actually one of the best in the soapy mystery/thriller business these days. I suggest starting with either **Someone We Know** or **Everyone Here Is Lying**.
Try Harlan Coben’s books. Great mystery/thrillers.
