I'm looking for a biography on Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. I want something that examines his character, his strengths and flaws, and his relationship to his family.
I don't want something that glazes over the terrible things he did (the lobotomy on his daughter) but I don't want something too tabloid-like either.
By tabloid-like I mean, books that lack any journalistic rigor, just teeming with "so I heard" gossip, no substantive information. I skimmed Sins of the Father by Ronald Kessler and found it to be in that category. So, please, recommend me alternatives.
