Okay, so I know there have been a lot of mixed reactions to the new Wuthering Heights movie adaptation not being faithful to the book, and I get it. But the new trailer is making me want to read a book with that vibe: a dramatic, high-intensity, angsty love story. I know I’m not going to get that from the actual Wuthering Heights by Brontë, which is far more complex but whose “love story” isnt really what the trailer is giving.
So… any recommendations? I’m open to any time period (preferably no Jane Austen, Brontë sister) ideally with a HEA, but I’m craving some intense yearning and good writing. Thank you!

You know, I really love Kathryn by Anya Seton, a historical novel loosely based on the long affair between John of Gaunt and Katherine Swynford.
