I was hate-reading at that point. Kept going because i was "so close to finishing but then i realized… why am i doing this to myself?

297 pages in, I closed it and moved on to someting else. My Goodreads progress bar will forever be stuck at 87% and honestly? it feels liberating.

Anyone else have a "that is enough" moment really late in a book? what finally made you stop?

    1. I couldn’t get through the first book of Wheel of Time. Just had to stop. Audiobook too and I love audiobooks

If I count it as read if I get at least 50%. Its rare that I DNF so if I’m hating it that much I feel like I’m owed credit for my time 😆

    3. For me it was Empire of Silence. People say the later books are among the best in sci-fi but those same people read the entirety of Empire of Silence and so their opinions are meaningless.

That was me with The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. Just gave up at about 85%. 🙂 Blllluuuughhhh

11/22/63 was mine. It started off good but at a certain point I couldn’t take it anymore. I am on a (very long) waiting list for the audiobook with my library, which will be my last ditch effort to finish it, but im not all that excited about picking up where I left off.

    6. I did this with Stephen King’s Fairy Tale. It sucked because when it started I was utterly hooked on it. The longer it went on, though, the more I realized how hollow it was. King is an expert storyteller. He can make a whole book out of a few vague ideas and it’ll almost be good, even. Fairy Tale simultaneously sold me on King’s writing chops and left me thinking maybe he should spend a bit more time baking his ideas.
