Hey everyone, I'm looking to buy a Christmas gift for my father-in-law, who I like very much but also know to have tendencies of wanting to be the smartest man in the room. He likes nonfiction books that do deep dives into recent aspects of modern history — for example, he likes "Going Infinite" by Michael Lewis, and "Box Office Poison" by Tim Robey. I know he used to work in chemical engineering, and likes reading about finance, science, and engineering. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It’s not super recent history, but Midnight in Chernobyl by Adam Higginbotham is a great nonfiction choice. I got it for my dad a few years ago and he loved it.
