An issue I have found recently when reading is that, when reading, I am distracted by what is to me unnecessary description and floral sentence structures. Such to some may be an important part of storytelling, but to me I only think of the writer writing these artificial sentences. I want the writing to feel invisible with strong thematic weight – like I am reading a news article without thinking about who wrote it.
Any genre and period is fine, but I am looking to read some more fictional classics.
