I have read all of Darcy Coates, Shirley Jackson, and I absolutely love Hell House by Matheson. I’m looking for more haunted house reads. I’m in a book club right now, and we always end up pulling some Reese’s Book Club suggestion for the book, and while they aren’t terrible books, I want to balance out the overly optimistic tone of most of them with more spook and “I have to put this book in the other room cause I’m scared” vibes. Suggestions??

The Fall of the House of Usher, Edgar Allen Poe. A bit difficult to read due to the verbiage, but definitely creepy, and you don’t necessarily know what exactly is going on. Some of it is left to interpretation.
