    1. Literary fiction is a big tent. That said here are my favorites.

      Trust, Hernan Diaz

      Weather, Jenny Offill

      The Lazarus Project, Aleksandar Hemon

David Mitchell, Margaret Atwood, Gary Shteingart (spelling?), Michael Chabon. Go back further and you have Don Delillo, DFW, etc.

    3. Hangman by Maya Binyam is a pretty quick and easy one. Also very good.

Luminaries by Catton if you want something more story driven

      Septology by Jon Fosse

Not sure if it quite classifies as literary fiction, but Wind-Up Bird Chroncile by Murakami is great

Oh another fun one: On the Calculation of Volume

      North Woods

I just read “Olive Kittredge” and although it is not an upbeat book I enjoyed it and miss having another Olive story to read.

You Dreamed of Empires – Alvaro Enrigue

Drive Your Plow Over The Bones Of The Dead- Olga Tokarczuk

      There There – Tommy Orange

    6. Barbara Kingslover. I’ve read three of hers, *The Poisonwood Bible*, *The Lacuna* and *Flight Behavior”, and they are all top class.

    7. The Winter Soldier by Daniel Mason

      anything by Clare Keegan

Hilary Mantel’s Thomas Cromwell series (the third one came out in 2020)

Edge of Collapse series by Kyla stone. I read all 7 books within 2 months cause I couldn’t put em down. Post apocalyptic literary fiction with great characters. I loved the series.
