Usually I’m the type of person to go for a good thriller, something where I’m going to be on the edge of my seat with adrenaline and trying to figure out the twist or whodunit before the author gets there.
And then there are times like now, where I need something a little lighter. I spent a lot of time lost in a fantasy story that had a complicated storyline and a lot of players and moving parts. It was fun but now my brain is tired. (The Last Magician series by Lisa Maxwell)
I’m in search of something easier, something like a beach read. I don’t know if that exactly the word I want, but it’s the term that keeps coming back to me. A more straightforward storyline, probably involving a romance of some sort but definitely not required, and definitely not an entire army worth of characters to remember and keep straight.
A couple of things I was interested in when I read them that are in the vein I’m currently looking for:
The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther
The Book Haters Book Club by Gretchen Anthony
Let’s Get Lost by Audi Alsaid
Geekerella by Ashley Poston
The Everyday series by David Levithan
The Flabbergasted series by Ray Blackston
Anything in the realm like that would be great as a recc but please … nothing spicy. That’s not my jam.
Please and thank you!
