My dad was in the photography business for decades. I get him a couple books for Christmas every year. His normal realm of reading are mystery/procedural books like Dick Francis, Tony Hillerman, etc., but he also veers occasionally into the literary with authors like Charles Frazier and Khaled Hosseini.
I would love suggestions for books where the taking, developing, and/or general art of photography was an important focus. Something where the writer clearly knows their stuff when they describe the camera's components, angles/framing, developing film (or working digitally on a computer), and other aspects. Most genres are okay, though something that fits the two general vibes I described above would of course be best.
