Eleanore Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

Anxious People or A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman

    2. It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vazzini is such a classic. I love to revisit it when I’m feeling sick. Vazzini wrote it after being inspired by his own hospitalization for depression. It’s really touching.

My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh, but it’s a little more absurd.

Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen is a great nonfiction book. It’s a memoir of someone hospitalized and in recovery from depression.

Don’t forget that 988 is a warm line that anyone can call and speak to a counselor about experiences with depression, trauma and suicide.

A Ballroom for Ghost Dancing is about a man who loses his brother and long time girlfriend. Very depressed, his best friend invites him on a road trip to try to reignite his interest in joy and life. It’s great.
