I feel I’ve barely scratched the surface here, some that I have read are

Murakami (majority) Pachinko Shogun Tai Pan Chip War (about semiconductors and why Taiwan is a world power)

I’d love to hear some more suggestions – fiction and non fiction. Doesn’t need to be a specific country just learning about the culture and history is fascinating.
