Hi! I’m a complete beginner at reading, and I really want to build the habit. The problem is that I get distracted very easily, especially by my phone, and I end up not reading at all. I want to start with some great books, but I just sit with them and never make any progress.
Can you recommend some engaging, easy-to-get-into books for someone who’s just starting out? Any tips on how to stay focused would also be really helpful. Thanks!

My first thought is to start with a compilation of short stories. What are you interested in? What books have you enjoyed? Also, when you are reading, put your phone away – physically away, like charge it in another room.
So what have you liked so far? How old are you?
You can’t go wrong with the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, or Douglas Adams’ *The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy*.
If you want a super easy, super engaging, and not too long book I’d start with Percy Jackson and the olympians! I’m 27 and read the series for the first time last year and absolutely loved it
Dungeon crawler Carl if the idea of a video game apocalypse appeals to you
I was getting through a 100 pages at a time without even noticing
