    Heya! I’m a 19 Y/O British guy
that hasn’t read since school and about a month ago got my hands on “House of Leaves” partly for the reason that i’ve heard a lot of interesting things about it and it looked very unique and partly because i think it’s funny that the only book i’ve properly read is house of leaves.

But after finishing and really enjoying the relaxing nature of reading it’s made me want to branch out into more i’ve got a craving for it.

Since i’ve not really got my tastes lined up i’m unsure on where to even begin to look along with what to even look for, besides fiction as I believe i prefer fiction to non fiction.

Im looking for any major “Must Reads” that will capture me even more if possible, similar to how i view movies i tend to care and priorities more popular films as they give me more pop cultural knowledge which is a added benefit.

    any help is appreciated!!!

    1. *Annihilation* by Jeff VanderMeer sounds like a good one for you if you liked *House of Leaves*. It’s not the same, nothing is really the same as *House of Leaves*, but I think it should suit you nicely.

It has a movie that came out in 2018 with Natalie Portman if you happened to see that. But you should know that the movie is not the same as the book. They’re both excellent, but the movie changes a LOT from the book (and I don’t mean a normal amount of book to movie change, I mean the movie literally changes the plot and many of the key details of the book). The movie is more just inspired by the book rather than being a direct screen adaptation.
