I’ve been feeling isolated for the past three years and barely talk to anyone. I’ve completely withdrawn from people and it feels like I’ve given up on life. My self-esteem is really low, and no matter what I try, nothing seems to change. Everything feels pointless lately, and I’m looking for self-help books that might give me some guidance or hope. Do you have any suggestions?

    1. do you really think that a book is the answer to your problems? You should look in some religion, ideology or even in some philosophy, or maybe to try to look objectively what’s going on.

    2. hey, im really glad you reached out. three years is a long time to carry that weight and it takes courage to even post this

two books that might really help you:

**Loving What Is** by Byron Katie – this one’s about questioning the thoughts that are making you suffer. Katie has this simple process called “The Work” where you examine beliefs like “everything is pointless” or “nothing will change” and ask if they’re actually true. sounds simple but its powerful for breaking out of negative thought patterns when you feel stuck

**Radical Acceptance** by Tara Brach – this ones about stopping the war with yourself. when you’re isolated and your self-esteem is low, theres usually a lot of harsh self-judgment happening. Brach (she’s a psychologist and buddhist teacher) walks you through how to accept where you are right now without that meaning you’re giving up on change. its like… you can’t heal something you’re constantly rejecting

both books are gentle and practical. They’re not “fix yourself in 10 steps” – theyre more about shifting how you relate to whats happening inside you. which honestly sounds like what you need right now.

you reaching out here is already a step. i hope these help

This is a novel, not a self-help book, but I think it can really give you some perspective since one of the main characters is in a very similar situation. “The Schopenhauer Cure”.

If you read it, tell me what you think.
