Hello! I am interested in fiction books and novels about such themes as insanity, alcoholism, workaholism, addictions, obsessions and so on, preferably written in the 20th century.

I am familiar with Burroughs, Bukowski, Hemingway, russian writers, "Leaving Las-Vegas", "Martin Eden", "Barfly", "The lost weekend", Thompson, "Permanent Midnight", "Glass castle", "Shining", Remarque, "On the road", "Last summer in the city", "A tree grows in Brooklyn", "Thirteen tale", "Tender is the night"… (And a lot of books are just about junkies and alcoholics too – like "Trainspotting", "Requem for a dream", "Million little pieces", "Basketball diaries" and others. I don't need just a junky character here. I need a screenwriter or a writer. Brilliant, talented, complicated and wasting to the self-destruction and booze or drugs). I need something new to discover.

I want these books you recommend not to be memoirs but if it is beautifully written in a way of a novel then it may fit.

P.s. If you know some books that like "Martin Eden" explores themes of loneliness and workaholism it will be great (workaholism that breaks the person and leads to the mental issues like depression, phobias and all these things).

    Thank you!
